The World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly children from low-income families, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Special attention has been placed on children's health, nutrition, mental well-being, and education, with a call for global unity and joint efforts to address these challenges.
In response to these critical needs, the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) implemented a new initiative under its “Limitless Dreams” project. TDB provided health care packages valued at 100 million MNT to 10,000 children from targeted vulnerable groups who were under lockdown at home. These packages aimed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and help children navigate this challenging period with reduced risk.
The distribution of these health care packages, which included items such as face masks, hand sanitizers, immunity-boosting vitamins, and beverages, was carried out in collaboration with the staff of World Vision International Mongolia and TDB employees. Based on detailed research by World Vision, the packages were delivered directly to children from low-income households in 8 districts of Ulaanbaatar and rural areas, bringing them joy on International Children’s Day.
TDB prioritized supporting domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and national manufacturers affected by the economic downturn by sourcing all the health care package products locally.
In addition to its efforts for children, TDB donated medical supplies worth 40 million MNT to the Ministry of Health to support healthcare workers risking their lives to combat the pandemic. Furthermore, TDB contributed 22.5 million MNT to assist the people of China, Mongolia's "eternal friendly neighbor," in their fight against COVID-19.
TDB remains committed to its “Limitless Dreams” initiative, ensuring that the children of Mongolia, the nation's future, grow up in a comfortable learning environment, healthy, knowledgeable, and well-rounded.
