On December 10, the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) of Mongolia successfully organized a “Stakeholder Discussion” event in Ulaanbaatar under its project titled “Green Development Readiness in Mongolia’s Regional Areas.”

Since the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) became a trustee of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in April 2020, the Fund’s Board of Directors has successfully initiated the second readiness project, the “Readiness Project to Support Regional Green Development in Mongolia,” and approved it for implementation with a grant from the Fund in July 2023. The TDB is acting as the project coordinating organization.
The project aims to transform Khanbogd soum in Umnugovi province—a region with unique economic and environmental characteristics—into a model “Green Town” equipped with climate-resilient infrastructure and sustainable technologies. Its goal is to attract both domestic and foreign investment through blended finance and to develop optimal funding models that promote strong public-private partnerships.
The recent stakeholder dialogue brought together representatives from government and private sector organizations, as well as expert practitioners. The event served to present the project’s research and operational roadmap, gather feedback, and share international best practices, all while highlighting the unique potential of Khanbogd soum.
