Each year the Mongolian Sustainable Finance Association (MSFA), the Bank of Mongolia (BoM) and the Financial Regulatory Commission (FRC) select organizations that have excelled in implementing sustainable finance practices. This year, the Trade and Development Bank (TDB) was honored with the newly introduced "Leading Organization in Gender Equality" award.
Trade and Development Bank (TDB) is one of the pioneering banks to establish the gender equality policy and a gender committee. Some of their notable initiatives to promote gender equality include:
Developing a long-term action plan within the framework of the bank's gender equality policy, which consolidates the current state and future plans for gender-sensitive financial products and services across the bank's business departments, divisions, and units.
“Women's Leadership’ program and the “Flexible Mom” program have been created to support women by offering flexible working hours and remote work options for those on maternity leave.
Collecting customer data broken down by gender.
TDB has introduced a gender training program for both new hires and senior managers.
In addition, the bank has created special funding sources for women entrepreneurs, which go beyond business loans. This initiative also includes expanding product offerings to support self-employed women, helping to increase financial inclusion.
Additionally, TDB led the Gender Sub-Working Group under the MSFA to develop recommendations, methodologies, and tools as part of the project "Promoting Gender Equality in the Financial Sector and Strengthening Gender-Sensitive Financing Operations." They have been at the forefront of identifying and challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and exploring ways the bank can provide solutions.
