The “Mongolia Open Innovation and Co-Creation for SDG’s 2024 (MICS)” program, initiated by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was successfully held for the second time.
The program aims to unite teams from both Japan and Mongolia, comprising members from the private sector, public sector, and non-governmental organizations and the teams compete by presenting their ideas and solutions to tackle issues facing Mongolia, all within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals. The best projects from the participating teams will be selected for implementation as part of a long-term program and out of the top 10 projects in this activity, five received funding.
The TDB chose to support the project aimed at “Developing Technology for Reusing Old HEVs and EVs Batteries”, providing it with MNT 10,000,000.

More than 90 percent of used cars imported into Mongolia come from Japan, and about 75 percent of them are hybrid cars. The project also noted that when a problem or failure occurs in the battery system, users are not accustomed to using, sorting, and disposing of the battery as intended, such as throwing it away or partially replacing it. Therefore, as part of its social responsibility, TDB has selected to support this project, which aims to reuse expired and damaged battery systems from imported hybrid vehicles and recycle battery raw materials in the long term.
TDB sponsored “Mongolia Open Innovation and Co-Creation for SDGs 2024 (MICS)” program for two consecutive years to contributes to solving societal challenges and support the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
