UnionPay cards have been upgraded with “EMV” chips, an enhanced confidentiality measure.

Europay, Master Card and Visa (which the term EMV stands for) have come together and founded EMV Co, aiming to provide better security for payment cards through an implementation of their newest chip. The chip uses personal signature and verification code to protect your UnionPay card from unregulated personal information access and other fraudulent activities.


The EMV Chip card would hold advantages of both domestic T-Card and UnionPay cards, which means you would have the opportunity to get 5% discount at over 80 airport Duty Free stores all around the world, to collect tax refunds from over 300 stores directly into your personal account, moreover receive medical care, VIP services, and luxurious travel insurance deals using your EMV Chip Card.


If you are an owner of either a Regular or a Gold UnionPay card, you can get it replaced by UnionPay EMV Chip card at the closest to you TDB branch, free of charge until June 30th. Does not include Salary card users.
